Alco RS-1 More RS-1 photos in the Hall of Fame
Assembled from a Gilmaur kit by Peter Smith of Great Missenden, Bucks, England
The loco rides on Weaver AAR-B trucks.
Apart from the trucks and the Kadee couplers, all the parts you can see in these pictures are in the kit.
This engine has been used as a demonstration model at O Scale shows in the USA, such as the
Chicago March Meet and O Scale West, on many occasions. It has traveled thousands of Air Miles,
and been battered by the baggage handlers of many airlines. You may be able to see some of the results.
However, it still looks good, which is a testimony to the excellent work of the builder.
It also shows that the .018" thick brass used for the etched parts is strong enough to stand up to rough handling.
